SCULPTURE

2026, Made at Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI, USA

"Black 3D Iconology"

From mid-December 2025 through the end of January 2026, Lori-Ann Touchette and I were at RISD as artists in residence. In this collaborative project, Lori-Ann printed 3D clay figures which I then modified through the addition of  wheel-thrown, hand-built and 3D printed elements as well as slip-cast or press-moulded objects and organic materials dipped in slip. The figures are the largest of my pieces printed in 3D , ranging in height from 86,5 to 89,5cm. The titles are provisional and based on the name of the 3D prototype with the exception of "La Prima" (the first), whose title refers to the fact that it was the first statue created in each of our experiments with 3D at the Clay Studio of Philadelphia, The Bray and now at RISD.
