"KICB 2021" Korean International Ceramic Biennale

1 October-28 November 2021
Gyeonggi Museum of Contemporary Ceramic Art
Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea

79 works  from 28 countries were selected from 2503 artworks submitted by 1184 artists from 70 countries.

In this installation “Metallic Votive Wall”, sculptures produced with slip-cast moulds, taken from 3-D scans of contemporary individuals and 3-D printed in clay, serve as a pretext to arrive at a "sculptural subject". A constant of the variations that propel the sculptures towards continuous regeneration is the attempt to establish the stroboscopic range of human essence. The sculptures produce an estrangement effect, creating iconographic absurdities and a new mythology of the present. They are a grand exercise in metamorphoses, transience and relativity of the creative process, that through an inverse process, transform the stereotype into the archetype.
