"Metamorphoses of Minerva"
This August, I was invited to participate in the 2024 International Ceramics Symposius: "FIGURES" at the International Ceramic Studio in Kecskemét, Hungary. The title of the series is drawn from the fact that the lower part of the figure is based on a 3-D printed scan of a classical figure of Minerva. Using a slip-casting mould, I created a series of figures which I then completed with wheel-thrown and hand-built elements. I then added additional attributes (both slip-cast and press-moulded) and then organic materials dipped in slip. The figures are the largest of my slip-cast pieces based on 3D prototypes, ranging in height from 64 to 73,5cm.
